Death notice

The greatest danger to our future is apathy.

Funere announces with deep sorrow the passing of Jane Goodall, British primatologist, ethologist and environmental activist, who died on October 1, 2025 at the age of 91. Born in London in 1934, Goodall transformed primatology with her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees in Gombe, Tanzania, starting in 1960. Her studies revealed that chimpanzees use tools, build complex social bonds, and express emotions, forever reshaping our understanding of the human–animal connection. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute and the global youth program Roots & Shoots, dedicating her life to conservation, sustainability and animal welfare. Jane Goodall became a symbol of hope and determination for future generations, receiving numerous international honors and inspiring millions to take action for the planet. Her passing marks the loss of one of the world’s most respected voices in conservation, yet her legacy of compassion and perseverance will continue to inspire.
