In Memoriam

We remember Rock Hudson for his timeless charm and quiet courage — an icon who embodied both grace and truth.

Death notice

I try to live my life like a good man.

Funere pays tribute to Rock Hudson, American actor and Hollywood icon, who passed away on October 2, 1985, in Beverly Hills, California. Born in Winnetka, Illinois, on November 17, 1925, Hudson became one of the most beloved stars of the 1950s and 1960s, known for his charm, elegance, and talent. He rose to fame with Magnificent Obsession (1954) and All That Heaven Allows (1955), earning an Academy Award nomination for Giant (1956), alongside Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean. Over his career, he appeared in more than 70 films, effortlessly shifting from drama to romantic comedy. Hudson’s death from AIDS-related complications was a turning point in history: he was the first major Hollywood star to publicly acknowledge the disease, helping to raise awareness and challenge stigma.
